We mailed our 2019 990 just before the COVID-amended deadline of July 15, 2020.
Got a letter shortly thereafter that our return had not been received. Called customer service, who said those letters were sent by mistake (“We didn’t re-program our systems with the new due date. Your return is probably here in our backlog. You can file again, if you want.”)
Fast-forward to this week, when we get a notice CP141L, about a penalty for filing late.
Called the IRS twice, got the same message both times: “Due to a large call volume on this topic, we are not able to answer your call. Try again another day.”
Anyone else in this situation?
