I am a grant writer. Recently, I was contacted by someone at an international organization seeking $2 million in private funding grants.
However, the more I look into this organization, the less comfortable I am.
For instance, part of their program is to train indigenous leaders at small, local training centers. But they don't know specifically how much each training center spends. Instead, they use estimates for their budget.
They also have trouble getting financials from their field offices.
Even though private foundations have less strict reporting requirements than the government, I am still concerned.
Would this be a matter of including in the budget only what they track specifically and using grant funds only for those items, or should they avoid grants entirely?
Thanks in advance for the advice!
