New non–profit here.
I have a program where we train parents of at-risk families in STEM skills to help them find STEM careers. I want to be able to give the parents $$ (stipend? Awards?) in exchange for completing trainings and working in "intern" type positions in sister companies. I do not want to create a problem where they have to pay taxes on this later. Many of these parents are near homeless or recently homeless. Many do not even have bank accounts and only use Cash App. Can someone give me advice on this?
I do not currently have any paid employees and am not set up to do tax deductions in advance.
Eventually, these positions may turn into jobs if I can get sustained funding but for now, it would just be temporary…
