I'm (22F) graduating after the fall semester with a broad degree in Food Nutrition and a minor in Commerce – I'm not sure what I want to do or what skills I can utilize.
I've been working in the non-profit sector professionally for about a year now through co-op/internships at 2 organizations ($85m budget; $5m budget) working within the Food Security realm of project coordination and development. I did some grant writing, community engagement and stewardship- but I was mostly asked to make Canva infographics and marketing materials for both jobs. I also think I might be burnt out from doing too much work.
I just finished my last co-op term a few days ago and I'm not sure where to go next- The pay wasn't too hot and from my recent job search, a lot of non-profits unfortunately don't pay above living wage (~$20 CAD). Even managers only get paid around 50k-70k.
I'm getting really anxious and stressed about what my next career goals are to the point where I can't sleep or watch a YouTube video or relax without feeling guilty that I'm sitting here and wasting time not exploring or doing something productive.
I like being creative and helping other's out but I don't know what my options are or what I can offer to the job market while also getting a decent livable salary. I go on Linkedin's alumni feature to see what others are doing but none of what my peers are doing seem to interest me or going to the job portals and finding nothing that inspires me.
I'm not sure if I'm depressed or just having an existential crisis (maybe both) and I think this is my little cry of help.
TL;DR: was working in food security sector but don't want to do it due to low pay and burnout from non-profits. Not sure where to go next or what skills I can offer to the job market.
